Pole Data Collection Services for Telecom
Our crews capture pole, attachment and span data in Katapult and IKE, with O-Calc-ready heights and geotagged photos. Hire Draftech for a standalone, QC'd package built around your loading engineer's requirements.
Pole data your engineer can work from
Draftech delivers standalone pole data collection services for telecom attachment projects, pole inventories and make-ready engineering. You receive GPS-located utility pole records, a per-pole attachment census, measured span and clearance data, and geotagged photos. We own field capture, QA review and the final handoff. This is the pole, attachment and span slice of our field survey work, sold on its own.
Old utility records, a prior surveyor's export and new field measurements can describe the same pole differently. Attachment labels do not match. A height lacks a clear measurement reference. A span points to the wrong adjacent pole. When those records reach O-Calc Pro, SPIDA Calc or a pole owner's attachment record, the loading run stalls until someone goes back to the pole to re-measure, holding up the attachment or make-ready application.
Or the engineer proceeds on a guess, and the guess survives until a failed post-construction inspection or make-ready rework exposes it. Draftech provides the pole loading data collection that comes before O-Calc Pro or SPIDA Calc, with measured heights, clearances and photos ready for the engineer to use.
What our pole data collection services deliver
Every record ties back to a pole ID, so heights, spans and photos can be traced from the model to the field.
- GPS-located pole records: The pole location and identifying information provide the reference for its attachment records, connected spans and photographs. Our crews record the pole tag or owner ID and pole height, using the existing identifier agreed for the inventory.
- Per-pole attachment census: Our crews record attachment owner and type, the measured height of each communication attachment, and the height of the lowest power conductor or neutral. They also capture power equipment and risers on the pole, down guys and anchors. If a crew cannot confirm who owns an attachment, they flag it as unconfirmed in the record instead of guessing.
- Span and clearance measurements: Our crews measure span length and direction to each adjacent pole and midspan clearance over roadways and driveways. They identify the poles at both ends of each span and record where the clearance was measured, keeping a crossing measurement distinct from an attachment height at the pole.
- Geotagged photos: Pole and attachment photographs support the measurements and let the receiving team examine the field context.
- O-Calc-ready and native files: We deliver the agreed O-Calc-ready export and native Katapult or IKE records from the collection platform used. We include the underlying capture so your engineer can check a measurement against its source record and photos.
O-Calc-ready describes the field inputs. Loading results and engineering determinations are separate deliverables.
From scope to a QC'd handoff
Scoping to the receiving engineer's schema
We review the pole list or project limits, existing records, receiving schema and access information. We list the measurements, photos and files our crews must deliver and agree how to organize the records. Deployment planning follows that scope, including the areas to cover and any known access constraints that affect collection.
At kickoff, we establish who will receive the records and which platform they use. Your engineer's collection template or a representative record defines the required attributes, measurement conventions, photo references and output structure. We agree whether to preserve the existing pole identifier and how to identify the span each clearance describes. SPIDA Calc users receive native Katapult or IKE records and structured field data mapped to their template.
Field capture in Katapult or IKE
Our crews capture the scoped pole, attachment and span measurements in Katapult or IKE. They collect the photographs that support those records and document information that cannot be confirmed in the field. This field data collection for telecom stays focused on the aboveground data needed for the pole package.
QA review before handoff
We review the captured records against the agreed requirements before delivery. We check that each attachment is tied to a pole, each span to two poles and each photo to its record. We check height references and confirm which crossing a clearance describes. When a record is unclear, we ask the collection crew to check the measurement and source photos. We flag any remaining gaps for the receiving engineer.
Delivery for engineering intake
The final handoff includes the QC'd records, photographs and agreed exports. Your engineer can identify what was collected and where clarification remains necessary. Draftech is the single point of accountability for the collection package, so a question about a delivered measurement has a direct path back to the people responsible for capturing it.
Built for attachers, pole owners and engineering teams
For ISPs, carriers and other pole attachers, our pole attachment survey captures the heights and clearances that show the engineer where a new attachment fits on the pole. As a make-ready pole survey contractor, Draftech delivers the measured field inputs your application package needs. Those records feed Pole attachment engineering & applications for ISPs and carriers.
Draftech's telecom pole inventory services give pole owners and electric cooperatives attachment owner identification tied to each pole, without commissioning a full route survey. For owners using Joint use program engineering for pole owners, this package supplies the field inventory behind the program. Program administration remains a separate service.
Engineering teams can hire us when field inputs are the missing piece in an otherwise staffed project. Draftech delivers attachment heights and span measurements in the format of the team's loading platform, with native capture records available for reference. Your engineer receives field inputs ready for analysis instead of unrelated exports that need reconciliation.
When Draftech carries the work into pole loading analysis, the engineering is 100% in-house. The collected measurements also feed make-ready engineering. You retain the option to purchase field capture independently or continue into those engineering services with the same accountable firm.
Add adjacent survey scopes where the project needs them
This package provides the pole, attachment and span scope of Draftech's OSP field data collection services, available separately from the broader route work.
A project that also needs the full aerial route and strand inventory can pair collection with Strand mapping & aerial plant survey. Belowground records belong in Underground conduit, vault & duct survey. Establishing those adjacent scopes at kickoff keeps the pole package focused while giving the project a clear path to the other data it needs.
Construction closeout documentation addresses the records required after construction. This pole collection package establishes the pre-engineering field inputs.
Pole Data Collection Services for Telecom FAQ
Can we buy pole data collection without engineering?
Yes. Draftech sells field capture and its QC'd handoff package as a standalone service. Your engineering team can use the agreed exports and native records without purchasing a larger design contract.
How does the delivered census show unconfirmed attachment ownership?
Our crews flag the owner as unconfirmed on the attachment record tied to its pole ID. The census still includes the captured attachment type and measured height, with the source photos available for review. Your engineer can see which ownership question remains open without treating an uncertain label as a confirmed owner.
Do you deliver Katapult and IKE data?
Yes. Our crews collect in Katapult or IKE and provide native records from the platform used, along with the scoped O-Calc-ready export.
Does the package include pole loading results?
The standalone package contains field inputs for engineering. Loading calculations and make-ready design are separately scoped services. Draftech can perform that engineering in-house when you want to continue beyond collection.
Can existing pole records guide the field scope?
Yes. Our crews use conflicting or incomplete records to identify questions to check at the pole, such as an attachment label that does not match the current capture. An older record does not establish a current measurement by itself.
Scope your pole data collection package
Send Draftech your project limits, available pole records and the format your engineer needs. We will define the field capture, crew deployment requirements and deliverables around that handoff. Active in 24 states. Available across all 50 U.S. states.
