## Why Work at Draftech

### Built for Engineers, by Engineers

Draftech is not a staffing firm. We're not placing contractors at client sites and calling it engineering. Every project we take on is designed, managed, and delivered by our own team — which means the engineers who work here are doing real OSP engineering work, on real fiber deployments, with accountability for the outcome from survey to closeout.

**What that means in practice:**

- You'll work on projects that span the full engineering lifecycle, not just one isolated phase
- You'll see how field survey data affects design quality, and how design quality affects construction cost
- You'll develop expertise across multiple platforms — AutoCAD, ArcGIS, O-Calc Pro, Fulcrum, Katapult — in a production environment where these tools are used daily
- You'll work alongside engineers who have designed 44,000+ miles of aerial and underground fiber plant and can teach you what they know

### Remote-First, Nationwide
Our engineering team works across 22 states. We have remote-capable roles in design, GIS, and permitting, and field-based roles that require travel. We're clear about which is which in every job description.

### Growth with a Growing Firm
Draftech was founded in 2018. The broadband infrastructure buildout — driven by BEAD and other federal programs — represents the largest expansion of U.S. telecommunications infrastructure in a generation. We're growing with it, and the engineers who join now grow with us.

- **AutoCAD** — proficiency in OSP drafting, block libraries, and sheet management
- **ArcGIS or QGIS** — spatial analysis, address layer management, route analysis
- Understanding of FTTH/GPON/XGS-PON network architecture
- Familiarity with NESC clearance requirements for aerial plant
- Strong understanding of fiber count planning, splitter architecture, and optical loss budgets
- Experience reading and producing OSP construction documents

#### Bonus Skills
- O-Calc Pro or SPIDA Calc experience
- IQGeo or GE Smallworld familiarity
- BEAD project experience
- MicroStation proficiency

### 2. Pole Loading & Make-Ready Engineer

**Type:** Full-time | **Location:** Remote with occasional travel

#### What You'll Do
- Build pole loading models in O-Calc Pro and SPIDA Calc from field survey data
- Apply correct NESC loading districts (Heavy, Medium, Light, Extreme Wind) for each project geography
- Identify non-compliant poles and design make-ready solutions: rearrangements, replacements, guy wire additions
- Prepare joint use attachment application packages for pole owner submission
- Track applications through utility review processes and respond to engineering questions
- Coordinate between multiple utility owners (electric, telephone, cable) on make-ready sequencing

#### Required Skills & Tools
- **O-Calc Pro** — production-level proficiency, including wire tension calculations and loading district application
- **SPIDA Calc** — or willingness to learn (required for certain IOU clients)
- **Katapult or IKE** — experience with field data import into loading tools
- Understanding of NESC Rule 261 and Grade B loading requirements
- Ability to read and interpret pole survey data including attachment heights, pole class, species, and condition
- Experience with joint use processes and FCC pole attachment rules (47 U.S.C. § 224)

#### Bonus Skills
- Field survey experience (strand mapping, attachment measurement)
- Experience with FCC One Touch Make Ready (OTMR) procedures
- Licensed PE (Professional Engineer) — not required but valued for sealed plan sets

### 3. GIS Analyst / CAD Drafter (Fiber Networks)

**Type:** Full-time | **Location:** Remote

#### What You'll Do
- Produce fiber network route maps, splice diagrams, and construction plan sheets in AutoCAD and ArcGIS
- Build and maintain GIS geodatabases with proper topology rules, domain-coded attributes, and fiber network schema
- Convert field survey data (Fulcrum, Katapult exports) into design-ready GIS layers
- Produce BEAD-compliant GIS deliverables in required formats (shapefile, geodatabase, GeoJSON)
